Stop Pro-Abortion Lutheran Day

Dear Pastor, or, rostered Church Leader,

On May 6th 2009, some LCMS and ELCA social services agencies will sponsor the 5th annual Lutheran Day in Springfield, IL.

The highlight of this event (whose motto is Here We Stand) is the giving of the “Paul Simon Courage in Public Service Award” at 2pm, after a prayer service led last year by CID-LCMS district president Rev. David Bueltmann in the rotunda.

The common theme of the award every year is that the politician receiving it is always pro-abortion.

In 2008 the award was given to House Majority Leader Barbara Flynn Currie, an outspoken pro-abortionist. The first recipient of the award was Dick Durbin, also a known pro-abortionist. Perhaps the intention was always to give it to a pro-abortion politician since its named after a well know pro-abortion politician.

We need faithful pastors who will have the courage to speak against this mockery of the Christian faith.
